Should you even eat breakfast?
Don’t feel hungry in the morning?
You’ve heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but is it true? The short answer is yes, but why?
The first thing that we put in our bodies makes a huge difference in our health because while we’re sleeping, our bodies are in a fasted state, meaning you have digested all of your food the day prior and your insulin levels are at an all-time low so whatever you eat first in the morning will be more quickly digested and absorbed by your body.
There are certain things when it comes to nutrition and we consider “nutrition levers” when it comes to nutrition meaning a small change that makes big results and your breakfast is one of them. Putting the right foods into your body in the morning jumpstarts your metabolism and sets you up for fitness success for the rest of the day!
So what are the “right foods”?
We recommend eating (nutritionally dense) rather than (calorically dense) foods. The traditional refined sugars and carbs that most breakfast foods offer are just not cutting it. Consistently eating these types of foods will result in weight gain and an increase in the risk of a variety of other health issues such as diabetes due to the rapid spike in insulin levels.
What should you do instead?
Instead of processed breakfast foods like cereal and white carbs like pancakes, we recommend starting our day with a combination of high-quality protein, slow-digesting carbs, and healthy fats.
Here’s an example of a nutritionally dense morning breakfast-
Apple Pie Oatmeal And Scrambled Eggs.
Why This Breakfast?
This breakfast will provide you with the correct combinations of fast and slow digesting carbohydrates for quick and sustainable energy to start your day + loads of antioxidants to help neutralize free radicles, therefore, decreasing the risk of diseases and healthy fats to help burn bad fat while increasing testosterone levels.
